This Puerto Rican actor and film director under the name of Benicio del Toro is the most awaited Wolfman this 2010. He was playing the role of Lawrence Talbot, a nobleman that turns to be the beast – Wolfman. Being a wolfman is very near to his heart, because he was a fan of the original film the “Wolf Man 1941” and an avid collector of the movie’s memorabilia. This is his second act as a “wolfman”. His first role as a movie actor was that of a “dog – faced boy” in the 1988 film “Pee Wee Herman’s Big Top Pee-wee”.
Benicio del Toro’s real name is Benicio Monserrate Rafael del Toro Sánchez. As a kid he was called, “Skinny Benny” and “Beno”. He was a mix of Spanish and Italian blood. Del Toro’s parents are both lawyers. At the age of nine, his mother died due to hepatitis. He and his brother were raised as a Catholic. His dad sent him to a Business College at the University of California, San Diego. He drops out of college to start an acting career. He studied drama with his acting teachers Stella Adler and Arthur Mendoza in Los Angeles. When he was just starting, he became a part of Madonna’s music video of La Isla Bonita as a background character – a kid sitting on the car.
He was the third Puerto Rican that won an Academy Award. He received an award of Best Actor in a Supporting Role in Oscar from the movie Traffic (2000). Del Toro has 29 wins and 17 Nominations from different movie awards giving bodies.
